Bridgestone BT 014s
« on: December 23, 2005, 02:02:02 AM »
Replaced the well known and trusted BT 010s

Pros:

Much much much much stickier leading to huge buckets of corner confidence    ;D
Different profile leading to much quicker turn-in when counter-steering the above corners    ;D
Identical performance in the wet (i.e. OK but not brilliant - though much better than 020s which were pants in the wet  :yikes)

Cons:

Due to the softer compound they wear out quicker than a badgers arse and a rear is only good for 3K (front will stretch to 4K)
I have 3.5K on mine at the moment and I almost dont need the stand cos my bike will stand up due to the tyres being so squared off!  :'(

overall:

fekkin brilliant and highly recommended!  love 'em to bits for road use/very occasional trackday
Thought for the day:  Never hold your farts in.  They travel up your spine and into your brain and that's where shitty ideas come from!

I paid (I think!) £140 for a rear.

To echo Andy's comments...

BT014 lasted me 3k miles.

Great road tyre.

Runs out of stickiness on a track day though... not the best for that.

But ain't gonna give you problems on the road.

I tend to use Simon at www.intobikes.co.uk' for most of my bike related stuff and he appears to have them for £169 a pair at the moment.

http://intobikes.co.uk/products?detail=product&id=000040

(not fitted and not sure if that covers postage but a very competitive price all the same, he lives/is based near Crawley somewhere)

Good review :D  just been advised by local dealer to put 014 on front and 020 on back of the wifes bike (CBR600F).  This is on the grounds that she'll get the same milage (4 - 5k) out of both tyres and it will provide more grip etc on the front than 020 or 010s :LOL

You shouldnt put two differene types of tyre on one bike she should stick with 020 front and back or go inbetween the two and have 010's front and back.

The reason being is the different profile on the 014 and 020 will prob screw the handling

I had 010's on my zx4r and they were pucker

Tempted to use the 014's as I have 020's and don't have any confedence in them. Ok for motorway mileage but not for a Sunday blast, round some bends  :yikes .

i was told that as well but iv got a michelin pilot race on the front and an 020 on the back of my cbr6 and its been fine for me, in saying that i probably dont go as fast in the corners as some of you lot

as has been siad, what tyres you mix'n'match depends on the profile but an 010 front with 020 rear was good on the 9R and many have recommended the mix  :D

(would VERY strongly advise against having a stickier rear than front though  :twistedhd  )

I don't know what an 014 front with 020 rear is like cos as has been said above the 014 has a slightly different profile to the 010

the 014's are standard fit on my k6 750 and i could'nt wait to get them off, found them vague and got crap miles under 2k, 1000 of that was running in the bike.  switched to metz rennsports much grippier, better feedback and mileage.  good deals to be had on the rennsports at the mo cos metzeler have got the racetechs out

I always mix the tyres if I can, OK keep the same manufacturer and keep the same profiles, but I put a stickier/softer tyre on the front when possible. Its not just me either, lots of sports bike riders do this and it was even recommended by a track instuctor (but for the road not track)  :D
My other bike is another Suzuki ?
