The Bridgestone 014's are the recommended tyre for the thunderace but to be honest I think I will have to get the miles done and get them off :scooter
The Pilot power and Diablo are the tyres that have been recommended. Think I will need to give them a try.

ok here we go,

My old zx10 (note old not R) i used to run 010 front 020 rear, that was fine for that age bike.

My 9R came with 010 front & rear, i liked, but wore out quick.

My tyre place (pro tyre) don't do 010 any more, but the guys who both ride, said put 014's on at they are good match if i liked the 010s & they're right. Decent road tyre, not as much grip at the rear but predictable so no problem, last longer than 010, nearly 4k front 3k rear.

There are stickier, but i think good compromise.

Everybody will have their own favourites, use whichever you find suits you the best, but i do agree the rear handling goes off before it wears out, but maybe if it didn't last as long then i wouldn't notice.

Your choice depends on miles you do, i did try really sticky (at the time on my old zx10) bridgestone rvf & rvr (i think they were called) but i couldn't get 1k out of them, but christ they stuck to the road even in wet, but i couldn't afford to be changing tyres every month.

You pay your money & take your choice - it really is down to cost v life & whatever you're happiest with.

That's what i think, & i think it is very personal choices.

If you are happy with your choice then stick with it.....there's no tyres better than the ones you get on with best.

Cheers then  ;D

Got 4k out of 014 rear, but as has been said when I took it off the rear paddock stand I found it harder to control the bike with the new 014 due to the old 014 being so square.

The old tyre I could hold the bike with 1 finger.  My front still looks good to last the rear though.

You kids must be riding a lot harder than me.  :-[

I got a pair of 014's fitted to the Hayabusa (190 rear) and they cost me £200 ride in-ride out from Tyres R Us in Eastleigh, near Southampton. :D :D

I also got a 014 rear fitted to the gixxer, that cost me £120, fitted, and the guy even came to my house to fit it. ;D ;D

On the same note, Taz Motorcycles in Peterborough wanted to charge £168 just for a rear 014 for the gixxer, ride in-ride out. :yikes :yikes

The number for Tyres R Us is 02380 618823

good thread. I am having 014's fitted tomorrow to my Fazer600. they still have the original BT057 on with 4300miles and are over 3 years old. So after just 300 miles on these decided to change to 014's. will not be doing a huge amount of milage at the moment but really just want to go for a better tyre than the 057's.

Ta for the info guys and I shall keep you updated how I get on with them through the winter, Spring. :D

I am not going to pass judgement on the 014's just yet. Had 020's then changed to 014's when I got a flat on the front and going up and down the motorway squared off the rear. The rear doesn't let go the same way the 020 rear did but the front is shìt! :sh1tfan :sh1tfan :sh1tfan
I am going to get new fork oil and wheel bearings fitted and play with suspension settings to see if that helps before I blame the tyres. The front did feel find with the 020's, but I will wait and see.
If you do loads of motorway miles stick with the 020's as they are a harder rubber, but if you do a bit of Sunday blasting go for the sticker 014's. :scooter

I've never tried 014s, but if you want even more grip try 012ss. upside, great wet or dry hot or cold , downside , not a high mileage tyre and prone to suffering on hot track days. But I have never lost it yet even when both ends let go they grip again. About £230 per pair fitted (Protyre Bristol)

I had 020's on my Cat and on the Ace when I got it. I didn't like the 020's on the Cat, so first chance I got I changed the Ace tyres to 014's.
I do a decent amount of motorway riding so 012's are not a good idea and the 020's didn't grip the way I would like on a Sunday bast, so the 014 looked like a good choice.
The difference in turning is  :yikes SCARY. I thought the front end was going to let go every time I turned a corner or round-about. I have been told that the difference in tyre profile is why the, sports/touring tyre, front turns so quick.  :yikes
