R+G crash bungs
« on: February 09, 2008, 08:10:33 PM »
Got myself a set of these back in september in preperation for my first trackday! (i didnt come off thank god)
they were £95 for my bike (due to difference in fitting and replacing coolant bottle) They look good and i appreciated having them incase of the inevitable off. The other week i was awoken on a saturday morning to be told that my bike was on its side in the car park, i went out and sure enough it was on its side (on the sidestand side) my jaw dropped and i couldnt believe it but, thanks to the amazing crash bungs the only damage was a broken indicator a small scuff to the pillion grab handle and scuff marks on the crash bung, They are worth every bloody penny! If you dont have them- GET Them, you may think you will never come off, but it doesnt stop a Drunken basta*d pushing your pride and joy over, saved me lots of pennys

Got the bungs mate. As tested by Dave Tarmac Terrorist on a number of occasions.

I agree, Crash Bungs are worth the money.

Lets hope that no-one has cause to use them :D

I have a set of Harris ones on the gixxer.

And as for folk messing with your bike, give them a smack, works for me ;D  (http://www.superbikeforums.co.uk/index.php/topic,25475.msg362977.html#msg362977)

R&G 's have saved my race bikes a few times over the years.......... The market is flooded with alot of cheaper alternatives now, but you have to be VERY wary of the quality/strength of the nylon and mounts used.

Just got these fitted in white (tear sheaped) on my new R6 (obviously the bike is red and white). The shop actually recomended these instead of the Yamaha bobbins.

Fingers crossed i never have to test them. :yikes

Gott to agree there Stubbsy,  I got some cheaper ones off Ebay that looked good and the chap had a vid of a bike crashing at Cadwell and then showed pics of how they saved the bike,   ;D

When they came they looked reasonable but on closer inspection found the holes were'nt lined up and the front and rear wheel spindle protectors did'nt fit unless they were machined down a tad,  ???  but they were cheap at £51 for a full set.  ;)

But now I've got a full set of R and G's including the Tri Oval can protector and can see why they are the best.  :D

Oh and if anyone wants them other ones they can have em for a drink.   ;)

bungs are a def m8 ive had the unpleasure of experiencing them twice now :'(
at croft where i highsided and on sunday 18/05/08 at rothbury lowsided into a grass bank and fence :'( both times the bungs done there jobs the nose cone is damaged but repairable as with the rear cowl, it needs a new left hand peg( YA GOT ONE?)
what i will say is on both occasions i've had r&g  bar ends in and twice they have been ripped clean out :'( thus needing a new clip one (also left handside  :'( ya got one??? )
also this time i forgot to put on the swing arm protectors which i may add are on cbrvicky's bloody bike instead of mine  >:( and i now have a slighty scraped swing arm  :'(
still trying to use cbrvicky's as a spare parts stroke trackbike but she aint having any of it  >:( :down stil trying tho  :rofl
