Dunlop 209 Qualifiers - fact or fiction
« on: June 30, 2008, 08:14:12 PM »
I keep hearing the term  " Dunslips " now what i would like to know is why? Has anyone actually had major issues with these? I have had them on my zx6r since sep 07, did a trackday on them and covered alot of miles and not once have they failed me, in fact the continue to impress me with every rideout.

Now is the term dunslip just a vicious rumour or has anyone actually experienced first hand a lack of grip/performance

I looked up some reports online and according to Dunlop website the tyre won several awards?

Press reviews
RiDE magazine RiDER POWER SURVEY, Best Tyre 2006.

Motorcyclist magazine, Product of the Year.

Sport Rider magazine Supersport Tyre Shootout, Winner.

PS magazine Supersport & Hypersport tyre test, Winner.

Any opinions? :D

Ash I posted this last week about Dunslips Dunlop 208's http://www.superbikeforums.co.uk/index.php/topic,32464.0.html

All you need to do is type 'Dunlop reviews' into Google and see the poor reviews they have had  :-\

If you have had no problems with yours then don't worry  :D They have obviously improved on their poor performance in the past!!

apparently the 209's are top tyres, but again i suppose some of there previous tyres weren't upto scratch and obviously people have had bad experiences with them and the name has stuck. however tell me a tyre manufacturer who hasn't had some1 complain about them.. basically a lot of it comes down to personal preference/experience.
but i am going to give the 209gp racer tyres a go after i used my michelin power race sets up.

I think the important thing is the 'GP' in the model designation rather than 207,208 etc  ;)

The 207GP,208GP and 209GP are/were highly regarded,grippy track/race tyres.

Now my experiences are the polar opposite of that.

Not a great deal of outright grip but once they did lose grip it was steady. ???

quite right , but the rr range and now the qualifiers have exactly the same carcass ( rubber ) but a more road orientated construction .
