Kitchen sink **TIP***
« on: March 10, 2009, 09:30:30 AM »
+   =  :jump

I've had my Alpinestars GP Pro gloves for a while now, but they never felt as comfy as my trusty ol' RST gloves.

I decided to fix this in a few simple steps:

1) Don gloves
2) Fill kitchen sink up
3) Dunk said gloves in said sink
4) Swish around, squeeze and let them soak
5) Leave to dry in an airing cupboard

And Hey Presto!

Gloves are now comfy, comfy times.

Useful for anyone who has kangaroo-skin gloves, as they take a lot longer to break in than cow leather.

Here's hoping you haven't ruined them by weakening the leather or caused cracks in the hide  :D

No worse than riding in heavy rain; you just have to make sure you dry them slowly.

I think I've already done this with my Berik gloves but in torrential rain  :LOL

Surely if Roo skin is thinner, more supple and tougher than cow hide, then the likelihood of cracking the leather lessens?

Makes perfect sense to me, BC  :D

I tried the gloves out on the weekend, and the one area that wouldn't break in before has finally stopped digging into the side of my knuckle!

I'd leave out any detergents CF (I know, you're probably joking) the detergent will strip the leather of natural oils and will then cause problems with the leather becoming hard and inflexible :D

That's a point, make sure you dry them slowly.

Otherwise, you end up with a pair of gloves that not even Jeremy Beadle would be able to wear.
