Andelle Leather Repairs
« on: May 22, 2009, 01:11:23 PM »
Me & Sheepy wanted work done to our leathers so I phoned Andelles in Bolton & spoke to Michelle on Thur 7th May.

I asked if she could 'tidy' Sheepys leathers up (bit of stitching on the elbow) & put new zip in trousers & put a tag on my zip.
She said no problem just bring them in, I asked if we brought them in on the Sat (9th May) could she have them done in a week as Sheepy was going to Brands Hatch on the Sunday, she said no problem, just bring them in so we did.

We travelling the 36 miles to get there, she seemed a bit dippy but good humoured.
She said she was very busy but would be able to do the work (we had to tell her again what needed doing as she had forgotten).

She said the shop was closed when we needed to pick the leathers up as she was at Aintree on Sat 16th but we arranged to pick them up from the gate at Aintree Races, Michelle just told us to phone her on the Thursday to remind her to put them in the van which we did & all was ok.

On the Saturday, me & Sheepy drove the 16 miles to Aintree & phoned Michelle. She answered & said she didn't have the leathers with her as she was waiting on a part so the job hasn't been done  >:( I explained that we were outside the gate as arranged & she said sorry but there was nothing she could do. She said we could collect the leathers on the Monday from the shop but I had to remind her that Sheepy was leaving Sunday for Brands Hatch therefore we needed them asap. Gladly, Michelle said I could pick them up from her house (still a 35 mile drive) on Sunday lunch time which I did.

So after driving 174 miles in total to get messed around & still not having the work done :banghead  I can honestly say I won't go back there again & I wouldn't recommend them!

Luckily Sheepy ordered some leathers off Ebay as he didn't have a good feeling about her being relied upon when we were in her shop.

Btw, if anyone wants a one piece RST, pm Sheep  :D

What annoyed us more is she didn't even phone us to let us know that she had a problem doing the work & not to turn up to Aintree.

She had our phone number written down in her book along with the work to be done  :twistedhd

used them a few times, very good quality workpersonship, not as cheap as they used to be and can be a bit rubbish on finish times but they do a very good repair so i keep using them.

When we spoken on the phone and even when dropping them off stressed the time factor as I was at Brands a week later..

she said she would defo have them finished and would bring the leathers to a Aintree club race day so we could pick them up there on the saturday as I was going to brands on the sunday!!

As choccy said,  she told her on thurday it was fine and all will be sorted for saturday!

We drove to Aintree on the saturday to pick em up,  only to be told on the fone at the gate she had not fetched them and they was not done yet so technically, I was fucked  >:(

When choccy drove over on the sunday morning,  she did not answer the door but her husband pulled up and gave the leathers to choccy, stating the machine had broke so she could not do them!!

YOU NEED TO GET YOUR shìt EXCUSE RIGHT BEFORE BULLSHITTING  :banghead

FFS,  it was only a bit of stitching in the knee and elbow and that was only the patches and not the leathers themselves,

If they had been honest with us to start with I would have gone along with it,  as it stands I got the feeling she was going to let us down so got new leathers just in case!

Need to now find a reliable leather repairer that aint going to take the pìss  ::)

I also know this seems to be the case as I have been told the same by a few club race lads.. only so long before people get to know and go elsewhere  :-\

Might not be much use as they're down south but Hideout leather has a thoroughly good reputation and i've just dropped off my Crowtrees' there to get altered.

Sounds like it could be worth a visit or even posting them there???

Just a thought!

Sorry to hear that Choccy. What a shame. Thats quite a serious screw up. Don't 'they' say your reputation is only as good as your last job?

Again I only know of someone very good down south so not helpful for any of you up north.  :(
