Chain lube - Castrol Wax
« on: March 21, 2006, 11:25:27 AM »
Last year I used Castrols chain wax, and was impressed that it didn't fly off!

I bought another can this year, and it's now the "Improved Formula".
Anyway, cleaned chain and gave it a go - really quite impressed!

Seems they've gone away from the "white solid wax" and now it's clear.
It doesn't dry solid as it used to, it stays wet but with no sign of fling yet (tested on a private road at speeds of 120).

It'll be interesting to see if it retains these characteristics when the weather hots up (seems a long way off atm!).

Anyone else tried it?
Or any other recommendations?

Goof,
I tried the old stuff and stopped using it due to the white colouring.

If at first you don't succeed, remove all evidence you ever tried.

Dave,

Now I've always respected you ;) ;)

You've got a great bike but if you dare to spoil her with
an ugly scott oiler I will have no choice but to dye your hair kawasaki green should we meet
at Donnington GP or anywhere else for that matter!!!

I had one on my old blade when she arrived and had to rip it off!!!!
Bloody ugly things on sports bikes!!!

Sorry to offend you Aaron, but it was an old bloke in work who has a Honda Blackbird and he was telling me they were really good, but i can see where your coming from Aaron

I dont think i'll waste my money, i thought it might have been a good idea for my ride to spain, but i think thats cancelled now anyway (Going to the TT instead and doing a few track days)

I Think i'll just stick to my Wurth Chain wax  :D

Dave if you do want one I have one laying in the corner of my garage.

It was litterally pulled off so it needs the tube that plugs into the back of the carbs :D

Halfords - about £5.

They also do spark plugs, and brake pads for bikes, but limited range.
And Muck-Off cleaner.
