how do you fit a QuickShitter
« on: February 27, 2010, 08:12:39 AM »
A jorno mate of mine has kindly given me a dynojet standalone QuickShitter for Vicky the R1. Hr had it on his 09 R1, which he has now returned to Yamaha. He also has lightec rearsets and pazo leavers  which he has kindly donated to me.

Anyway I have this QuickShitter and he has sent in some pics showing him fitting it, so I should hopefully be able to follow that.

I have never had a QuickShitter before and am not sure how you go about setting one up, or do they need any setting up?

I am contonplating taking it to the rocket centre in blackburn, as they fitted my PC V and did my custom map.

Any advice welcome.

cheers

Steve

easy enough to do mate, did it come with the ignition expansion, the secondary fuel expansion unit, or the standalone QuickShitter expansion?

drop me an email/pm with some pics of what you have, and description and I'll try and show you how to. They're dead easy to fit.

or seeing as your in warrington, if you can bring it to oulton park on the 6th or 20th next month I can show you between sessions if you like as the airbox on the 09 is a bit complex with it's varriable velocity stacks etc.

yeah the air box is a bitch, easy, just time consuming and hard to work out what to undo to get it off etc.

if I still had mine I'd do a step by step for you.

basically you need to take the top cover off, once you've done that you have to unclip the top velocity stacks and remove them, then you can undo the bottom ones (4 or 5 mm allen key, either long t bars or the long allen key in the bike tool kit combined with a ring spanner to get at them).

once you've undone the bolts pull them out (they also have a locating slot that holds them in place, just pull them out don't worry), you should then be able to remove the airbox (remember to unplug all connectors and fuel/air hoses first). you'll then need to remove the ram air system scoop etc (just pull them out, they're a real bitch to get back in, there is a nack to it but couldn't really describe it on here).

after you've done all that you should be able to see the head and coil packs and you should be able to fit from there easy enough. I would possibly look at getting some block off plates from graves or someone as the PAIS bollox takes up a load of unnecessary room.

as I said before, if you can make it on either day, I can show you in person as it doesn't actually take all that long (I managed to remove and refit my HM QuickShitter in a lunch hour at work once I knew what I was doing)

I would have thought fuel would be the last thing your ducati needs to worry about :LOL

I thought your problem was keeping the fairings on the bike

Have spoken to the mechanic at my dealer and he has said I can take the bike round there and he will show me what I need to do to fit the QuickShitter.

Thanks for your help and advice, much appreciated

sorry I could not make Oulton at the weekend, hope you had a good day.
