c'mon , even yamaha can't change gravity !
 ;)
lack of sleep :-[ ! i ment centre of gravity !! you know what i ment :thebirdman

Nah definitely did it the right way round, and it definitely improved things, just dont click with it like I have other bikes (except france with velvet roads! was in its element there).
Will measure the sag tomorrow if I get time and let you know anyway, as they were base figures I set them to, not specific to that model.
What would you say they should be? Im only 10 stone 6,

sag isnt bike specific its what it needs to be set at.(other than smaller bikes! gp 125s run no rear sag !) let me know what yours is as soon as you can and i will tell you what it should be at cos i have a feeling its wrong

I know its not bike specific, its just to make sure the bike is using the correct amount of suspension travel with its given load during its regular use  :wistle
but I was told that the R1 was a possible exception to the normal fast road ball park figures, No idea if thats true
The GF is cooking tonight and Im late! so cant check 2nite! Will let you know soon as I do. Tell me what it should be that way I can adjust it if need be while im checking it, will be easier. dont worry Ill tell you what it was lol  ;)

lol, thats why i wasnt telling!
the front should be 25mm static sag and the rear 10mm static.
this can be altered very slightly to suit but not advisable unless you race it and know exactly the changes it will make!
everything can be sorted out with compresion and rebound damping...changing the sag will comprimise other things which is rather complicated and we dont want to go down that route   ::)

dont forget to bounce the suspension before measuring it at resting

let me know how far it is out
and no cheating be honest :nono:

Just got my new tires so hopefuly fitted 2moro and Ill check then :D
and are those measurements for the bike on its own weight or with me on it fully geared?
Oh n heres that vid in france, when it felt pretty good. found an awesome road, was 15miles long I think, the original vid was like 18mins so i edited it abit when was stuck behind a car etc, and got carried away n added cheesy music lol but all from one clip done with my phone ducktaped to my number plate (apart from the first clip which was next day on shockingly bad tires  :icon_boohoo: )
And yes I know the lines and the gearing arent track perfect! lol but was first time Id ridden the road in that direction and theres a cliff to my left and a cliff face on m,y right alot of the time!  :o so best to air on the side of caution  :005_sbiggrin:
enjoy

watch this space for sag

Static sag is just the weight of the bike; rider sag is with you sat on it

As far as I'm aware, static and rider sag should fall within certain tolerances - if they don't it means the spring rates are wrong for your weight and should be changed.

Right well sag was 31mm at the front and 12mm at the back. Like I said last time I measured rider sag, and im not very heavy.
I got my head round the whole sag business before and it made sense so try me, and stop drip feedin me the info!!  :jump Because if I add preload it doesnt seem to use its travel fully. will see with the old cable tie on fork trick tomorrow when I get some tyres on that allow me to load the susp abit...

if you dont use the full travel then thats ok,
set the sag at 25mm  and then try rider sag and it should be around 35 mm...
right. once the static sag is set and you are wanting to softern the front then the way you do this is by taking some compression damping off (this is were you have been going wrong by changing the preload to softern it up). you will have to also take some rebound damping off to compensate the compression being softer

rear sag at 12 mm will be ok

what should rider sag be at the back then??
Will do this tomorrow, as got roped into taking my mate on the back 90miles to pick up his new nc30 today  :-\ not really what i had in mind for sunny day with new tires to scrub in!

bloody m25 two up  :banghead

yeah the dropping compression thing did occur to me briefly, awhile ago... and then forgotten  :005_sbiggrin:
wasnt really riding enough to care then.

il see what rider sag is and go from there, the back seems to work bloody well as is, just hooks up n goes, and front is good because of the tire but feels like it needs more weight over it in the turn, geometry-wise, so i think reducing compression is a good idea

roll on tomorrow  :wistle

Cheers legz, just spotted your last post. Macca aye?? point him in this direction should your paths cross ;) all opinions welcome.
And I do like the grunt of this model, power monos from 4grand never get old  :005_sbiggrin:

Hope the 04 isnt down too much in that respect. Think im pretty much decided I will get an 04 when I find the right one, although none of the paint schemes really do it for me, so will probably end up spraying it too.

In the meantime tho I will give the 02 a chance to shine with abit of guided (pringle) fettling
off to a friends to measure rider sag  :jump

like the man said earlier. dont worry about rider sag, it gets complicated.
static is more important to get everything else about there
