I would argue that saying, "include your own view to give the opportunity for someone to take an opposing stance if you want to stimulate discussion" is attacking the post :twistedhd

I remember when this place was fun,and we had loads of banter.......not slate the shìt out of each other.

seen many people come and go over the years(some top fellas, some assholes),the main reason i don't bother posting much is theres some right numptys on here nowadays who are so far up there own asses they can probably see there tonsils.............a forums about having a laugh and discussions not pick the posts to death because you don't think its appropriate, or the grammar, spelling is incorrect lets take a reality check shall we............how many regular posters nowadays compared to 2-3 years ago.

Maybe it's time to get this thread back on topic?

There are other boards on this forum where some of the 'questions' posted earlier would be better placed.

Finally,a quote for you all:

He caused DEATH by careless driving !!

If it was my job that momentary lapse would have ended my career and so it should his. The bikers had light on were experienced riders so (and here I have to presume as no fact were laid out) there were visible and riding safely.

He got a 12 month ban, 2 month community order, £600 fine, and has to do 300 hour unpaid work.  So this punishment is more or less what the general public would get. HOWEVER the general public are not trained in advanced driving techniques and observation!

Sack the twat!!

Sack the twat!!

Why?

What would that solve?

You've already said his punishment is in line with what anyone would expect so why punish him further?

I agree with 'arry - a reduction in grade should be on the cards - I expect this incident proves the driver has fallen below the standards expected.

I said at the start that this is a sad tale - however,I think the drivers obvious deep remorse has helped (and I suspect it has made the family & friends of the dead rider feel a lot better than silence or even arrogance would have done).

Lose your license in most jobs you lose your job. If I had caused death by careless driving in my previous employment then they would not employ me any more. I also could not employ someone who had killed a innocent person due to their lack of skills/care as a driver.

The bloke has TAKEN a life and a ban is nothing back the the is it a accident well in a way yes cos he didnt do it on purpose, however he was totally at fault and should be done for manslaughter.

Lose your license in most jobs you lose your job.

I'll go out on a limb and say it wouldn't - the vast majority of jobs in the UK are desk based and a massive proportion of those working there either don't drive or choose to use public transport.

If I had caused death by careless driving in my previous employment then they would not employ me any more. I also could not employ someone who had killed a innocent person due to their lack of skills/care as a driver.

The punishment has to fit the crime - making someone unemployable as well as everything else that was handed out at court is taking things a little to far imho.

The problem with that is quite simple : intent.

It's the reason murder carries a more severe sentence than manslaughter.

There has to be a scale otherwise everyone would get life behind bars if a life was lost because of something they did whether it was deliberate or not.

Imagine the scene:

Overcrowded jail : "What you in for?","Got 30 years for leaving the car running, jumped into gear and knocked over a pedestrian. You?","Got 30 years for sodomising 15 kids that I beheaded beforehand.Fancy a game of cards?"

Just giving my opinion - not looking to be awkward

there but for the grace of god................

whilst i agree with the gist of what you say Mags i can & would say that he will have suffered extremely (as obviously have ALL the families involved) - what would a manslaughter charge prove / solve??
different ball game if we were talking about a scrote in a TWOC'd car trying to evade capture but we aren't its an Accident simple as
just here for the FUN........

I class it as a collision and not an accident.

Accident gives the impression that there was no-one at fault.

He should be given a desk job, as losing his income will not benefit anyone.
