100% now that is definative !  But seeing as there is a 30mph dual carriage way in Edinburgh I can't be talking "100% PISH" can I, ::) now go & clean your discs & be a good boy.  :giggle

A27 is all 70mph dual carriage way. Lots of favourite spots for unmarked cars. Its all practically fair game though as nice long straights make you easy to spot from a long way off.

its a ban.
unless you've got a particular point to make a solicitor will only add to your financial loss.

an early guilty plea gives you an automatic discount on the sentence

You forgot to add:......with a clean licence & very low insurance premiums. :005_stongue:

I don't think you are an idiot for riding carefully and keeping a clean licence Laverda, I think you are an idiot (probably a bit strong to call you an idiot) for judging someone who was riding at, imo, a bit too fast for current legislation, but not dangerously fast.
I guarantee virtually every single motorcyclist in the country has travelled over 100mph at some point, possibly even yourself.

its a ban.

No point denying the speeding arry, but might be worth mentioning circumstances. As far as I am aware you are asked if you have anything to say before being handed the penalty, so always worth saying a little to help the issue

It's not as black and white as, "it's a ban" - I got caught doing 100mph in a 70 and was handed down 5 points.

unless you've got a particular point to make a solicitor will only add to your financial loss.

Not if they reduce any fine and points imposed - as I stated earlier the consequential financial loss could be felt for three to five years (possibly more) through insurance premiums - that all adds up (and gets compounded if there are further things that push your premium up in the future like accidents, higher group vehicles etc.).

Gaz.
your not wrong and maybe my post was brief but if all you solicitor is going to say is how sorry you are and you've sold your bike then save your money.
the OP has said he can get to work on public transport so unless he has another reason a ban would cause exceptional hardship then you do have to balance the cost of the solicitor against any expected gains (no solicitor can garuntee a reduction)
we can only guess as to the punishment but generaly speaking over 100mph in a 70 results in a ban.

it would be worth talking to a lawyer and let them decide if you have a defence worthy of profesional representation but most lawyers will say yes anyway.

if the OP pleaded guilty at the earliest opportunity he can expect a 33% discount on any fine imposed.

Aye, I meant to add on my post, if he's already pleaded guilty there's less benefit to be gained

i personaly wouldn't contemplate going without legal representation. often it isn't what a solicitor says its how they put it across.
i mean you dont get a bin man to paint you'r living room so why would an every
day worker asume the role of a legal eagle?
honestly it doesn't bare thinking about .get represented.
does your bike insurance have legal cover ?most do and the advice is free.

o.k. out of the 30 quotes on the comparison site i use 10 included legal assistance automaticaly in the policy at no added cost.the other 20 quotes charge upwards of £15 for the legal assistance.so i'll rephrase what i said a lot of companys not most ,but a lot, include legal assistance . they were by no means the most expensive quotes either .
but i stand corrected.

i would also check the policy documents as the cover for legal expenses is usualy quite specific in what is covered and for many it is only for the recovery of uninsured loses.

the cover for "Legal Expenses" is the cost of the advice from a solicitor. Most policies for legal cover will not cover you for advice/representation against a criminal or motoring conviction, they are in the main to cover you for uninsured loss recovery in the event of an accident and in some cases (like on house insurance) they cover you for legal expenses in the event of employment and contractual disputes, claims against trades description and sale of goods act
