« on: December 28, 2011, 01:05:31 PM »
Afternoon All, hope you had a good christmas...?

Anyway, where's a good (cheap) place to get brake discs from? It's for my 1999 R1....

Ta,
Tony

:iamwithstupid: have a set of those on my GSXR:

Have done fast roads with no problem

Donnington and 3 day at Portmao with no sign of warping and/or other horror stories.

Kagazume's are Chinese, and also come with a 12 month guarantee.

Have a look at blackshadow-uk, have heard good things about them.

I fitted a pair of cheapskate front discs to my zx10 in the 90's and warped them within a week of road use.  There are other threads on here about disc preferences and quality.

Obviously best bet is by personal recommendation from those who have already tried the make you think you're interested in.

Cheers
Mike

cheers for the pointers will look them out.

The other thought I had was a secondhand from a breaker - seem to come in around £75-£100 for a pair. To me this doesn't seem as daft as it may sound, my reasoning being that the discs were secondhand when I bought the bike (erm as it was secondhand bike) and if I get a set in the same condition then what's the difference....

What do you reckon??

If they are good they are good second hand or not.
As long as they are not warped and they are in tolerance {refer to your manual and a pair of Vernier Calipers} all should be fine.
If you get them from a good source then the discs should be good - just brought a second hand pair of wheels with discs and they are just fine.

Why thank you, it looks fine in the flesh,  though to be honest it looks better in the photo  :005_sbiggrin:

The cable ties are holding on the (remote) reservoir of the shock, there is a proper mount I need to get. The shock is a Penske one, treated myself for xmas  :rotflmao:  secondhand mind.

got the cowl of ebay, I can dig out the link if interested, think it cost either £25 or £35, the fit is okay.

I think I'll be keeping this one, hence spending the money  :giggle :giggle

Wow, love your bike and it's end can  is it the 600 or 750?
