I'm really enjoying SBF and looking forward to being able to contribute more as at the mo I know FA.

Thats good

Now how about a pic of your bike?

There are plenty of folk on here that know f*ck all, and plenty that think they know everything but in reality know f*ck all.

I know some thing .........................

Don't go like the clappers when there are Mr Plod about :rotflmao:

I can't offer much advice apart from take it easy and buy the best lid you can afford (you only get one head, look after it), and never, ever, adorn it with stick on ears or mohichans

There are plenty on here that can offer advice on riding styles/positions, kit (what to buy and what not to.

Do some core strength building, that way when riding you can use your stomach to take the weight iff your arms

Lol stomach to take the weight off your arms?  :LOL
That`d be the erector spinae I think you mean  ;)

Some little tips from when I was learning.

1) MOST IMPORTANT. Alway always always look where you WANT to go! If you`ve over cooked it, dont panic, look and pull your face where you want to go and the bike will follow! Look at the wall/kerb/car bonnet where you dont want to go, and the bike will still follow!

2) Get familiar with the concept of balancing grip between inputs. What I mean is you only have a little contact patch on your ties, and exceeding grip (when your inexperienced) will more than likely see you on your ass. SO (in very simlified terms) if you are using 80% of your grip to brake, you only have 20% left for steering and visa versa, and if your using 60% of your grip still in a corner, you only have 40% to accelerate out. It will take you a while to get a feel for how much grip you have in any given situation. So best advice until you get a feel for that is seperate your inputs. Approach turn on brakes, reach desired speed and turn in point, realease brakes and turn (steady throttle), finish turn, accelerate. That way you have less chance of overwhelming grip while your learning.
Later when you have good feel for this you will be able to blend/balance shifting inputs allowing you to brake into turns etc.

These concepts helped me alot when I was learning my way around on an RS.

Hope that helps  :wave

ye thanks that really does help

when i did my cbt i didnt get any of this type of advice and i feel with us spending about 2 hours in a classroom that maybe this is the sort of thing he could be telling people, basically he didnt leave me massively prepared and confident to go it alone just gave me the piece of paper that i needed really.

thanks again.

Your welcome buddy, any questions any time and I`ll always do my best to help! I had nobody to ask when I started, and learning my trial and error is painfull  :o

Yeah my cbt instructor was useless too. I learnt to ride before I ever tried to drive a car. And he didnt even explain what the clutch did  ::) its was just a magical device, that you et go of bit by bit, and if the gods were smiling you wouldnt stall. My mates dad explained how it actually worked afterwards, and I never stalled again.

Thanks acebadgirl.
I got the name from an old Alan partridge episode where he was being stalked by a "bloody mentalist"
So I changed the e to a 3 because I drive an M3.
