are there many car enthusiasts on SBF
« on: January 23, 2012, 08:15:03 PM »
i just thought i'd find out if theres any SBF members into there cars.

i have only just got my 1st bike so not much to talk about there, but i have had performance cars for 20 years.

at the moment ive got an M3 which i have had for near 3 years, its getting towards the time where i would normally change it but now im starting on bikes i will keep hold of this for a while longer, its been a very good car in the time ive had it but quite expensive (to me) running costs and if i was doing 10,000+ miles a year i probably wouldnt keep it but as i only do 4,000 miles it stays affordable, and now i have a bike that mileage will probably drop anyways.

show us what you've got

heres mine.

i'll be honest, i never heard of the indicator pack so i would imagine its not on this model.

and the best thing about VW is theyre made for big miles so once its back from the moon it'll probably fancy a propper ride out next time

I love performance cars too, just recently got a 370Z. Was considering a Z4M or M3, will probably go for one after the Nissan. That or a Cerbera ;D

I can't drive and don't own a car but I like them and have been fortunate enough to be a passenger in a few good 'uns

Eventually ( ::))I will drive and i'm dreading the first time I arrive at traffic after a loooong night shift,0745,rush hour traffic and I start to filter...

Scariest/most impressive cars i've travelled in have always, without a shadow of a doubt, been simple little boring cars (think 1.1 Saxo,1.8D Fiesta,1.6 Fiat thing) driven by a fooking lunatic out to impress a biker.

Those drivers are bastards and should be avoided at all costs.

I love the sound of a flat 6 Porshe being given the beans - as an impressionable 10 year old, a friends' uncle had a 1973 911 and it sounded lovely - as an impressionable 40-odd year old I still love the sound (even if it's a GT2 proving that a good driver in a good car on warm, twisty roads is easily the match of any leather-clad biker).

Stand-out moments:

Macca in the 5 cylinder Turbo Audi Quattro - how much grip?!!!  :o

Macca in a MkII Golf with a 1.8 TT turbo motah - how much torque steer?!!!  :yikes

Doug in a Fiat Brava (!!!) - finally realising that the quickest thing on the road isn't the most powerful, lightest, biggest engine, etc etc - no,it's the shitter driven by someone without fear (or sense of mortality  :yikes :yikes).

I'm sure there will be a couple of twats reading this thinking "you can't drive so stfu" - F U  :rotflmao:

i like the look of the 370Z but have never been in one. the cerbera is an animal and not bad money now either, especially if you go for yellow :LOL. a friend of a friend was trying to sell his yellow one for about 18 months before he took what seemed like a very low offer for it.

i had these two classic shapes for a total of 7 years and so fancied a change (to the M3) also influenced by a corsa that stoved the back of the 2 door in. great cars especially the 2nd one made me seem like a really good driver :LOL

nice cars

my other half has the m-sport version, hefty tyre bills  :o

i've been in to cars since i care to remember, although from around 1994ish when i started getting into road bikes more my interest in cars faded a bit.
my first road legal car was a mk1 scirroco, followed by a supersport then astra gte's, rs turbos, xr2/3's, rs1600i, r5gt, 205 gti's, golf gti's, mk1/2 escorts rs's etc... etc... most of them modified in some way or another.
i also built a kit car a few years back

i drive a sprinter van now   :o
