My 1st bike
« on: January 27, 2012, 05:09:24 PM »
hi all, i was asked by a SBF member in my welcome thread to put up a pic of my bike so i decided to start a new thread to show it off, i know its no super bike but i had to start somewhere and im sure it will be chopped in for something more fitting pretty soon.

its a 2005 model 59 plate low powered but came with most parts to make it full power which i cant do yet as its only done 250 miles from new and needs running in for 1000 miles, got it at a good price too, £1700 and it is mint.

thanks for looking

Nice, clean machine

Keep it looking pristine and you'll reap the rewards when it comes to trade-in time

Nice and Cute I like it.

I would like that - get it up to full power ASAP does look like a lot of fun - as soon as you can if it does not mean any problems trading in etc or high milage.
As soon as you got it up to full power give me a go

And it does not look comfy looks fun looks like a sports bike - good luck and enjoy.

thanks rotax81, im really pleased with it

as long as i stay upright it will be as good as new when ive finished with it, im a little bit OCD with my vehicles, sometimes i pedal to work rather than risk getting my freshly waxed car wet lol.
i also got provisionally offered £3000 for it against a brand new zxr600 at £7500, its somebodys replica i think, very very cool.

Great little bike, but they do take more than their fair share of maintenance. Watch out for snapped power valve cables and use only high quality 2 stroke oil.
They are basically a detuned race bike put on the road, so are proper tools in the twisties. Wish they were around when I was younger .
BTW don't upgrade just pull out the 125 engine and bang a big single 4 stroke engine in instead, now there's a serious bit of kit

Same shape as mine was

Like Macca said, dont put your little beast down, I`v seen a kid caining it at a trackday on one, and it still ranks as one of the best handling bikes I`v ever ridden. I touched my pillion peg down on mine when I was young and crazy! And there were bends that I never managed to take faster when I upgraded to a bigger bike than I could on the RS. If youire willing to use the turn in speed, and keep it pinned not much will hang with you through bends under 90mph.

Oh and the first time you hit 8k rpm your gonna have a grin like a chimp ron a jack russel  :LOL

Tidy little bike

I went through 2 motors on my rs within 15k miles... makes sure its warmed up before you ride it and use decent 2stroke oil.

ye by all accounts they can be reliable but you have a lot of routine maintenance/checks to do, but that aint such a problem for me, as a bus mechanic it will be fun to learn something else

cheers pal, not so much putting it down but realising my place in the pecking order ;)

:rotflmao: good analogy (i think thats the right word). honestly cannot wait for the next 200 miles to be done as i can then rev to 9k, 200 miles wont take long though as soon as i get some time off work it will be done in a weekend

thanks again for the warm welcomes.
