Pros:

Faster than a badger with its arse on fire (and a R1  ;)),
The twin style headlights look more modern than the older models single headlight,
Lot more comfortable than others in the same class
Cheep as chips compaired to others of the same age
Sound fùcking great as it has carbs
Confidence inspiring handling

Cons:
Has carbs and all the negatives that com with them (Balancing, flooding etc..)
Bit on the lardy side
bit of a sports tour image
Old technology such as analog clocks, carbs (as mentioned before)
Build quality is a bit average (not as good as Honda)

Tips:

Fit a end can as the standard sounds like you are farting in the bath
Switch to Pirelli Diabalos (not Corsa)
Fit a double bubble screen (looks better and more wind protection)

All things considered I think they are 'kin great.  OK, so it is not kitted with the latest techno crap that only racers can use, but lets face it, real world biking is where these thing really are at.  Extremely pleased with mine.  Have a question though, my clutch slips when giving it large, usually in 3rd or 4th gear when hitting about 9 - 10 krpm, could this be due to the viscosity or wrong type of oil?  Would appreciate any views so I can get it sorted

Firstly, I'm no expert but do you have fully sinthetic in it?  When I had my ZX-9 E2 the dealer always said that Kawasaki only recomend semi synthetic for it.
I have heard that fully synthetic can make the clutch slip as yopu describe.

Not sure what is in there at the mo, as it had just been serviced by the guy that had it before me.  However, it's now done 11500 miles so will book it in and get the 12000 mile service done and make sure semi synthetic goes in!!  Cheers for the advice m8

bought my E1 last august but only been out on it once with the mates, ridin on avon asaros ,do you think i should get something stickier for the twisties or should i stic with wot i have.only in green 4 me peeps,love my E1 to bits already.bit of a step up from the cbr 6

also the suspension can be a bit vague/soggy on the older ones.  pound for pound probably the best mod to improve the bike is to get the suspension overhauled/set up correctly.

Can be good for over 140bhp at the rear wheel with very few mods.  A real world bike for real roads and the first true blade beater

and for those who look at the bhp figure and scoff dyno charts are here (dyno time done at seastar kawasaki in Norfolk)

Mate has one in the Isle of Man with Ohlins, Ktech forks, Carbon dymags, metzellers renns, dbl bbl,  and some time spent on set up.

I loved it.  It felt like it knew where I was going. 

it has 4k miles on it and is up for sale. its a minter too.
