Also another question lol, you guy's talk about training a lot. I have NO clue if there's anywhere that they do that in my area and I suppose some training is recommended eh? Also don't know of anyone who rides these types of bikes, well one person but dunno where that guy went off too. I think at a collage just over in a town next door they used to do motorcycle training, but not sure if they do any more but will check on that.

Thanks, was hoping I was on spec with my leathers, I seen a lot and read and watched many reviews on RS Taichi and they seem pretty darn reputable and make good stuff. The other stuff goes well with the suits pattern and colors and all together I think will look excellent together, the Taichi Gear bag will hold it all plus helmet when not in use and saves space in the home. atm the joe rocket pack is doubt-able as I think I found some thing better and even more versatile, doing my research and viewing all my options on the matter of gear and attempting to get the very best out there.

SO...any suggestions, opinions etc are welcomed as I will soon have access to funds that will allow me to get all the very best so...

The time to get my gear is near, I have a super budget next month and so am taking full advantage and making an investment, bike is coming later likely summer this year used but not abused and I'll be ready to go. Here is a list of the goods I'm getting.

Hum yeah proper fit for the helmets good, the X12 is supposed to be pretty quiet compared to most and all the tech and so on that went into it makes it appealing plus it's the best head protection from what I gather. And also...INTERESTING...on the Triumph 675...I will very much eyeball all the specs and see what this company is all about, very attractive bike though tempting as well! Will definitely be one in my collection some day.

And thank you, glad to be here, great advice, love all the info makes things easier going on figuring out what I want.

Ah very cool and ty! I also dropped by my Kawasaki dealer, and more or less the same thing though he mentioned that the zx6 might be a bit much, but not sure in what terms he was speaking really aside from the zx6 will have more power due to being a 4 cylinder. I like the looks of the zx6 of course, will have to look into a used one and perhaps have a test ride of sorts before I buy to see for myself as that is what it will end up coming down too in the end so. Thank you very much for elaborating with me on this, it's been a subject in which I have had to look into with great detail. This info will help a great deal!

Cool tight, yeah I figured something versatile would be the best way to go. In summer can unzip the waist and take off my jacket, handy also for those trips to the store or gas station stops and hanging out in shady spots to air out.

Thanks rotax! To me now it's up between the Kawasaki 650R and the ZX6r, both 2011's. Who knows might end up with a 2012 by the time I get to it at the current rate I'm going with the economy and job scene here where I am in the states...really sucks. But never know, I am due Monday for an interview and just might land a good job with decent pay and less crap involved. Hope so, will be much easier for me to start out.

At any rate thank you all for the advice, anyone with more feel free to post here as I'll keep an eye on it or feel free to pm me anytime!

Ah and hello to you Richie, love this site people are so helpful and I am out of my rut in my thinking process now tg! lol. I'll have to do that this coming summer, thing is is getting a license without a bike...or try and get a used beater to learn on till I can get my license and start test riding bikes to see what I like. Likely plan I think, the ZX6r is like looking at a lovely lady, but shes a bit dangerous...my kind of gal lmao yeah I'm a bit silly but hey it's fun.

Thanks for the advice, I got a lot to learn so, will be hanging out here quite a bit. Also, I have my own ideas with gear and so on...what is recommended anyway? Personally I have been looking at two piece leathers mostly at Joe Rocket and also RS Taichi and Alpine Stars, as well as some random other gear from Knox. I already know I want to get the Shoei X12 Helmet, I don't skimp on safety and I like the looks of the gear and one day will thank god I grabbed the stuff. lol Though one can always hope not :)

I am new to the forum and also to the world of superbikes, I used to ride a bit of dirt bike and atv's when I was young and it has been forever now. I fell in love with Kawasaki superbikes some time back and other brands as well, and now I want one but also admit that I know little and am very willing to learn. I was advised by a cool member here to get some thing around a 650cc sport bike, I been looking at Kawasaki's Sport line but also their ZX6r and even used the sites comparison charts, and I am still not at all sure what their big difference is as I am not savvy in technical specs yet only that the 650r "seems" to have more HP, but that is deceptive as I think the way the ZX6r's fuel injection and so on is set up, it would likely easily blow the 650r away but dunno lol and that's me with specs.

Anyone with exp on these two? Which would be best for a new rider looking to get the best out of their first bike? I love the sleek looks of the ZX6 as the 650r looks a little less sleek which is no big deal just my cosmetic banter that's in my head is all and therefor I ask this question.

Yeah I agree very much so, when one thinks of the HP these things have it is quite scary in some respects lol, meaning most bikes weigh some where in the 500pound range which is very light when compared to the HP driving them.

Upon comparing the Ninja650r and the Ninja ZX6r, the 650r has more HP, but I suppose in the ZX6r the bore diameter and the fuel injection style really boosts it's power beyond the 650r's. Wonder how they compare when sitting on one and going down the road, perhaps the zx6 is like the 650r on some steroids? lmao!

(((Ah my bad, you said SPORT bike, I found those on Kawa's site, I was on the ZXr page lol, looking at the differences now lol. Think I confused the ZX line with the R line, 650r looks cool. The main diff between them just racing specified add ons?)))

Thanks for the welcome, glad to get a nice greeting haha. I've been through a hard life but it's a good thing as it's humbled me to many things and I learned early on to ask questions and learn, as it is far better to fix mistakes or cut them off early on so as to save time and some times pain lol.

Very cool! And yes this helps a great deal, I was wondering what the differences between the higher powered bikes and the lower...say between Kawasaki's ZX10r and their ZX6r. I love their looks as they look similar, the 2011's are beautiful machines. Would a Kawa ZX10r be proper then?

I have a dealer close, but they will do whatever to sell a bike I think and aren't good for advice such as this except technical specs. And I figured that the ZX10r would be far too much, it's about 1000cc I do think, for a time I was thinking I could "grow into it", but after some thinking I highly doubt that since it would be difficult to learn proper riding skills always being worried about putting too much power on and getting turned into road kill.

And yeah I think I prefer Kawasaki because for one Suzuki is hugely popular especially the Hyabusa bikes I see kids on, the type that wear just shorts shirt and sneekers lol I was passed by one while back on the high way, he was dressed as above but with a hat and sunglasses and I was doing 75 miles per hour in my truck...though to myself...would hate to see you lay that down dressed as you are...

Yamaha makes great bikes far as looks go, I haven't road one of course. Seen quite a few on the road, might be interested later on down the road but for now I just want to get started really so onto that lol.

I do think when I get my gear and the right bike for me, that I will most likely be forever hooked on these bikes and riding. I say that because quite a few early mornings when driving to work in my truck I daydream about riding, in a way sucks because it puts my mood off that I don't and can't atm have a bike but hoping in the nearest future possible though.

And last but not least VERY glad to be here on the forum! I'll be around a long time, so much to learn here. :thumbsup:

Hello all,

I joined a forum before here on the same subject for riding superbikes, and well posted an intro as I am doing here and well my intro never got put up. Dunno weather there just rude to new guys to the sport or what, but I am still looking for advice from veteran riders so I can start myself off right here.

I'm 31 years old, 6 feet tall and weigh around 215-220 pounds and in decent shape. I haven't ridden a bike in forever, used to ride dirt bike and atv's when I was a kid so I am pretty much new to riding which is the bottom line. Some time back I fell in love with bikes like Kawasaki ZX10r's and so on, just looking at them get's my blood going and I get excited. I want so badly to get a bike and the gear and to ride, these bikes as far as I know are state of the art technology and the pinnacle of motorcycle performance which I love cause I love those things as well.

I'm not going to allude that I know a damn thing about these lovely machines aside I love them and have the desire to grab a ZX10r out of the gate, which is likely a mistake most new riders make when excited and first want to ride. So I come here asking for advice on how to begin the right way in learning how to ride these types of motorcycles, I come with an open mind and willingness to learn all I can from experienced riders.

For my size, weight and so on what size of bike should I get? I love Kawasaki and Suzuki, and also I'm not one of those types that want to go around riding in shorts and a t shirt without even a helmet either to be clear...I am one that wants to acquire leathers with the armor as sold at stores like Joe Rocket and and so on, pants jacket boots gloves and a Shoei helmet. Protection and common sense appeal to me, plus I like the look.

Really looking at Kawasaki, Suzuki is on par with them as for brand I am looking for in my first bike there awesome. Also I take it there are classes that train one how to ride as well, I'm looking to be a non racer at least to start off and just ride and enjoy. While I am not normally a daredevil I still get in those moods where I love speed so but I never try and get stupid.

So...please do help me out here, I know answering the same newbie questions and dealing with new riders or aspiring riders must get tedious but I'm easy going and am not here to dispute what I don't know. Share your knowledge with me, I'll be taking notes lol. I am also in the future looking to attend MMI (Motorcycle Mechanics Institute) in Orlando Florida USA.
